1960 view of the carriage and head-rig. The ratchet setter rides the carriage and adjusts the postion of the log depending on the thickness needed. This carriage is nearing the end of it's use as the new carriage will no longer require the ratchet setter to ride the moving carriage.

This log has made two passes through the head-rig. The log is then pushed of the carriage. From there, the log is rolled with the hook turners to reposition the log for the best cut. The log will then be pushed back on the carriage where the ratchet setter will again adjust the thickness called for by the head sawyer.
